The Opening Ceremony of Eco-week Campaign 2019 – Responsible Tourism for young people in Vietnam
In the morning of 12 September, the Opening Ceremony of Eco-week Campaign 2019, “Responsible Tourism” was organized at University of Sciences, Hue University (HUSC).
Attending the ceremony, there were Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province, Representatives from various relevant provincial departments and agencies; Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, representative of Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Southeast Asia (RLS); Ms. Hoang Thanh Tam, representative of Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment; Assoc.Prof. Hoang Van Hien, Rector of HUSC; Dr. Duong Van Hieu, Dean of Faculty of Environment Sciences and other lecturers, students as well.
The Eco-week Campaign 2019 is being co-organized with the cooperation between University of Sciences, Hue University and Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment under the sponsorship of Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Southeast Asia (RLS). The event will take place for 5 days, from 12-16 September 2019, including a lot of activities such as talk shows by famous guest speakers; training courses with fieldtrip; environmental pictures exhibition; cycling to protect environment…, which promising to bring new and amazing ideas and actions related to ecological lifestyle with the main theme of “Responsible tourism” for students and young people in Hue City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof Hoang Van Hien, Rector of HUSC affirmed this would be a good occasion for the lecturers, researchers and students to meet each other, learn and share their knowledge, teaching experiences with various leading experts as well as create the new cooperation possibility in the near future. The students taking part in the Eco-week will get chance to talk with famous guest speakers from the South and North of country. Especially, 50 students who were selected from different universities and colleges in Hue city will have gold opportunity to participate in training courses with lectures specialized in ecological lifestyle. Assoc.Prof. Hoang Van Hien also hoped that some couples of excellent HUSC students will be able to become the “Ecological leaders” after the campaign. They will contribute their talents, knowledge and skills to develop the new ideas and actions to promote the practice of ecological lifestyle as a movement among young people in Hue city.

Ms. Hoang Thanh Tam, Representative from Center for Development of Community Initiative and Environment also expected that all of student leaders would have more skills to apply and disseminate what they have been trained on ecological lifestyle among their friends, young people and their community.

Eco-week Campaign 2019 has been funded by Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Southeast Asia (RLS). RLS has cooperated with several partners like C&E, IPAM, ILS, NA to implement various environmental-friendly activities such as no litter or climate change topics with the attempt to improve the policy system and mechanism forwards to the more sustainable development. Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Representative of Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Southeast Asia (RLS) strongly believes that all of the students who have participated in the campaign will have a week filled of amazing events to discuss and share about “how to enjoy the tourism and preserve the values of nature, environment and culture”.
